I’m a freelance sculptor, mask and prop maker with more than 14 years experience of working in prop and mask creation for conventions, performance and cosplay. My work has featured on BBC television (EastEnders, Blue Peter), on stage and at other performance venues and events across the UK. I trained in mould making and prosthetics with Neill Gorton of Gorton Studios/Millennium FX and have delivered lectures on creature design and creation and conducted sculpting demo’s at venues across the UK including the National Space Centre Leicester, Cambridge University Science Festival, Sci Fi conventions and at a number of regional libraries.
My project for Maker Faire would be a a display of replica masks and props from popular science fiction/fantasy film and television along side a sculpting demonstration and a range of moulds and works in progress to demonstrate the processes used in creating creature masks and make up for TV and film. Visitors will be invited to handle the materials and try out some of the sculpting techniques as well as trying on some of the masks/helmets on display. Alongside the masks and props I will also be displaying a selection of my junk art robot sculptures.
